Yes. If you already hold a local mobile food permit and you've submitted a complete DSHS application with fees paid, DSHS confirms you can keep operating past July 1, 2026 while your application is processed — you don't have to stop selling and wait.
This isn't a guess or a summary of a summary. It's a direct quote from DSHS's own announcement confirming the statewide license rollout under HB 2844.
"Current mobile food vendors may continue to operate after July 1 if they have submitted a complete application for a DSHS license, including paying the required fees."
Notice the key word: complete. A started-but-unfinished application doesn't count. Fees have to be paid and the application submitted in full.
DSHS is specific about this. Until your new license is issued, you need to physically have these on your vehicle at all times:
All three, together, printed — not just a screenshot buried in your email. This is the exact language DSHS uses in its Mobile Food Vendor Guide.
You can keep operating during the transition as long as your DSHS application is complete and fees are paid. This page applies to you.
You cannot legally operate until your pre-licensing inspection is completed and the DSHS license is issued. DSHS says it will prioritize these inspections.
Some local inspectors are still catching up on the HB 2844 transition themselves — having the primary source on hand, not a paraphrase, is what settles it fastest.
We prepare your DSHS application, confirm your Category, and make sure what's on your truck actually holds up if an inspector asks. English or Spanish.
